Deep South Classic
The homeowners of this Baton Rouge kitchen loved the rustic details of their cypress planked ceiling and terra cotta floors. However, to capture true French country style, they needed to balance these rustic elements with the refined details of bespoke cabinetry by Clive Christian. The result is a timeless kitchen which captures the best of classic design and combines it with modern conveniences.
The initial challenge of this large space was to create definition. By creating two separate large islands this kitchen transforms into a model for culinary organization. The iroko chopping block and prep sink provide an intermediary step between the Sub Zero refrigerator and Wolf range. A dropped marble area on the island works well as a baking work surface. Finally, the second island keeps guests out from under foot and provides these homeowners with ample serving area for entertaining.
